SHATTERED  photo installation

Shattered is a photo installation that celebrates the vibrancy, and mourns the demise of our community art space, WORK (2012-2018). These images were taken after we decided to close the space due to degradation of the building. It is just one more tragic story of landlord neglect in an artist run space. After the Noreaster of late 2017, a portion of the roof blew off the building and it was never repaired. As a result of leaks, the building began to quickly deteriorate. Inside the space we built a day-glo mirror room installation. These images were taken in this room after mirrors began to fall off the walls and shatter. This project offers a poetic documentation of both the deterioration of physical space and the shattered feeling of displacement and loss.
